A 38-year-old woman has an initial clinic visit to establish HIV care and to start antiretroviral medication. She was diagnosed with HIV 3 days prior. She is asymptomatic except for some symptoms that suggest heartburn and possibly gastroesophageal reflux. The plan is to start her on dolutegravir plus tenofovir alafenamide-emtricitabine and a medication to help manage her gastrointestinal problems.
