Background
Your privacy is important to the National HIV Curriculum. The National HIV Curriculum is a free, educational Web site from the AIDS Education & Training Center and the University of Washington; this project is funded by a grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) The following sections summarize and disclose the information gathering and dissemination practices for our Web site.
Privacy and the Feedback Survey
The National HIV Curriculum Web site contains an optional, self-administered, online feedback survey. On our site, the survey is located in the Feedback header. The survey includes questions regarding the user’s geographic location, their employment, and specific feedback regarding the National HIV Curriculum Web site. The purpose of this feedback survey is to help us better understand the type and location of medical providers who are using the site and to evaluate comments from our users to improve our site. In this survey, we do not collect personally identifiable information.
Systems Logs for Web Site
System logs record information about the webpages served, including the URL of search engine used and text string, the browser identification, and the Web pages viewed. In addition, host information (either domain name or Internet Protocol address) can be accessed. The Internet Protocol address, however, does not identify you personally, but rather identifies the location you are computing from. We do collect IP addresses from those visiting our Web site to help diagnose problems with our server and to optimize the performance of our site. The information regarding the specific Internet Protocol address of the user will not be shared and will not be used to send any advertisements. With respect to Ad Servers, we do not have any relationship with any Ad Servers, nor do we intend to engage in any such relationships.
Registration
Registration information can include name, email address, mailing address, and education level. We use this information to contact users about services, courses, or training which they have signed up for, requested information about, or expressed interest in. We do not sell or make available this information for any other reason or to any other party from which the user does not wish to have contact. If you would like to delete your registration account and associated data, please contact us.
Cookies
A cookie is a piece of data stored on the user's computer tied to information about the user. Cookie data may be linked to personally identifiable information for data analysis and quality assurance purposes, but individual cookie data is never shared with or sold to any third parties.
Profile
We store information that we collect through cookies, log files, and/or third parties to create a profile of our users. A profile is stored information that we keep on individual users that details their viewing preferences. This information is not tied to users' personally identifiable information. We do not share your profile with other third parties.
Log Files
Like most standard Web site servers we use log files. This includes internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, platform type, date/time stamp, and number of clicks to analyze trends, administer the site, track user's movement in the aggregate, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. IP addresses, etc. are not linked to personally identifiable information.
Use of Intercom Services
We use a third-party analytics provider to help us provide timely support for you and better understand your usage of our curriculum. In particular, we provide a limited amount of your publicly available information to Intercom, Inc. (“Intercom”) and utilize Intercom to collect data for analytics purposes when you visit our curriculum. Specifically, Intercom receives:
- your First and Last Names,
- your e-mail address,
- your Job Title,
- the highest Degree you obtained.
Intercom DOES NOT receive any information from the PIF form. We also do not use, and have Opted-Out of, Intercom's social media functionality.
Intercom analyzes your use of our curriculum and tracks our relationship so that we can improve our service to you. We also use Intercom as a medium for communications, either through email, or through messages within our site.
