Figure 1. Treatment of Trichomoniasis in Women with HIV with Single Dose or 7-Day Course of Metronidazole
In this trial women with HIV who were diagnosed with trichomoniasis were randomized to receive either metronidazole 500 mg orally twice daily for 7 days or metronidazole 2 g orally in a single dose. Women receiving the single-dose therapy clearly had higher failure rates.
